03-10-2007 - The world is been trying to get the proof of what's going on in Myanmar for days. Everything was pointing to atrocities against the pro-democracy movement, but little was backed up by hard and fast evidence. But then some one got word that one dissident had obtained some incriminating footage showing riot police beating protesters as they were loaded into a truck. They waited for agonizing hours for the video to arrive. Almost 10 minutes of footage showing a protest which ended with brutal beatings. It wasn't an atrocity, but it certainly was the most dramatic footage seen so far less

A protest over an elementary school near a coal preparation plant led to 12 arrests at the state Capitol in West Virginia on March 16. Protesters want Governor Joe Manchin to call for a new school in the community for Marsh Fork Elementary School students. Manchin says it is a local matter, and urged the Raleigh County School Board to put the issue to a countywide vote. less
